MessageMr Speaker,

People that do "porn" are recognized for their profession. We believe that Prostitution should be legal, as we have legalized the production of porn, were people sell them selves to do sexual acts on camera.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Legalizing prostitution will reverse much of the progress that has been made in reducing the prevalence of STIs by creating a public health hazard for our nation. It will also lead to a further expansion of sex based industry and to the victimization of poor women forced to sell their bodily integrity to pay bills. We can not support such a measure.

I yield.

MessageMr Speaker,

"It will also lead to a further expansion of sex based industry and to the victimization of poor women forced to sell their bodily integrity to pay bills" First off their men prostitutes. Secondly, it would be a recognized profession, thus meaning support groups in place. " further expansion of sex based industry" The Porn industry is already huge, the fact that its legal to have sex on camera and not off camera in order to gain money, makes this government look hypocritical. Prostitution may be illegal but people are still doing it, this results in them getting abuse. and for helpless; this in turn means their unable to go to the police and seek help, as they've broken the law. Please parties reconsider you stance.

I yield

MessageMr. Speaker,

The Liberal Democrats are oversimplifying the porn industry. The porn industry is not prostitution on camera, rather it is an acting based industry in which actors and actresses are paid not to directly perform sexual favors, but to play roles that involve sex. There is a clear distinction between both terms, and we do not see our current policy as "hypocritical".

The government's goal should be to eliminate prostitution, not provide legal grounds for it. Sure prostitution will still occur despite our policy, but that's no reason to legalize it. If we adopted that philosophy, then maybe we should legalize murder or rape as well considering that both still occurs despite our policies.

I yield.
