| In these modern times the over sentimentalization of symbols of state have become a barrier between the true state (the people who make up the nation) and their absolute right to freedom of thought and speech. To make illegal the desecration of a symbol is to deny the right for the people the flag represents from being fully open in expressing their beliefs about the future direction of the nation. Let us remove this archaic and inappropriate clause form our constitution and become known as a nation of Liberal values that will in turn promote far greater nation pride than a piece of cloth hanging on a flagpole.
