MessageMr. Speaker,

The largest party should be head of government. We oppose.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Alex Gleed's opinion will not dictate how governments are formed. There is no requirement for the President to be from the largest party in the coalition or the Presidium.

MessageMr. Speaker,

there is no regulation on who should provide the President. May I remind all of the MP's that we live in a democracy where mutual understanding and cooperation should be the base of success of a coalition.
Even the smallest fraction can provide the President. The most important aspect is that the coalition gets the support of the people. Thus, there's nothing wrong with this proposal.

A leader who threatens other parties with violence and refuses to apologise is not fit to be president.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We did not see Alex Gleed making the same complaint a few years ago when the Saridani President was threatening Lodamun and refusing to apologise. While being oblivious to international issues, and while having less than 4% of the votes in the last election, the ECA demands control of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and tries to dictate the coalition formation process. This must be a joke.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Mr. Fertig is being highly hypocritical. How can he condemn the Saridani President for threatening Lodamun and refusing to apologise, when he has done the exact same thing to two members of the ECA?

The main reason the ECA is interested in the Foreign Affairs portfolio is due to our policy to ratify more treaties to show unity with other nations. Treaties such as the anti-slavery treaty for example. This is an area that we should be addressing.

If Trevor Fertig does become President, then of course we would want to endorse him, as our parties vote similarly (especially of late). However, we simply cannot support his Presidency if he still refuses to apologise for his abhorrent and threatening comments that are unbecoming of any leader, let alone a President.

We will not ask again. Either Mr. Fertig apologises, or the ECA will publicly condemn his Presidency. He is an experienced politician that leads a proud and historically significant party, and I trust he will make the right decision so we can all move on.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I will not apologise. I want to also make it clear that I did not condemn the former Saridani President in the Presidium; I simply pointed out the hypocrisy in the ECA condemning me without condemning the former Saridani President.

The ECA claims that it would endorse me if I apologise, but they are hypocrites. They are the same party that said that Presidency should be given to the largest party. They have changed their arguments now.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We are deeply saddened at the choice Mr. Fertig has made. His stubbornness and arrogance know no bounds. We accept that the major parties wish for the head of government to be from the GNRG. We would have preferred Alexander Miller to remain as President, but we live in a democracy and we respect the consensus the governing parties have come to.

We are not angry at the GNRG or Trevor Fertig, just deeply dissapppinted at his lack of integrity.

MessageMr. Speaker,

while LNC is rather isolationist, we applaud the fact that some politicians still want to get involved with other nations. Treaties are a good way to get in touch with other nations. Who doesn't remember the 'condemnation of Lodamun' treaty?
Mr. Gleed, read my lips: not one single nation will get in touch with Lodamun if they don't respect us. We try to respect the other nations, even the ones that condemn and judge us. Ratifying treaties will not change a single thing to that situation.
Some nations simply don't accept our politics. Too bad.
Ladies and gentlemen of this Presidium: now I can retire. I have seen it all.
Thank you

On our next cabinet reshuffle we seek the justice ministry as well. We will serve this ministry well.

Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me--and by that time no one was left to speak up." - Pastor Martin Niemoller
