Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 3859
Description[?]:
Mr. Speaker, Before becoming a member of this honorable house I was myself a fisherman on the Largonian coast. I Believe that my experience in the trade gives me good grounding to propose the following amendment to the nations fisheries policy. It is with firm conviction that I believe our prosperous fishing industry could become ever more so under the guidance o local government officials who would work with their local industries to craft quotas that would allow maximum productivity as well as ensuring conservation efforts were maintained. This is not a drastic bill, but it does give our fishing industry the best grounding possible to flourish well into the future. I commend this bill to the house and welcome healthy debate on the matter. Mr. William Hartnell, LFP Member for Largonia |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Commercial fishing regulation.
Old value:: The government establishes fishing quotas.
Current: The government establishes fishing quotas.

Message | OOC: Greetings! Apologies for interrupting your Bill debate like this, but if I may, a few points. Under section 3 of the Rules (see http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5519 ) players are not allowed to use prominent real-life variables in the game, like giving your in-game characters the same names as celebrities. As an avid fan of the BBC's original Doctor Who series I recognise William Hartnell as the first actor who played the Doctor. So call me strict if you like, but I'm going to ask you to find an alternative to William Hartnell :). You will also notice that section 6 of the Rules refers to the national cultures in Particracy and also the Cultural Protocols, which you may read more about here: http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5240 Dorvik is currently a culturally-protected nation with a legally binding set of Cultural Protocols, which may be read here: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=388600 I appreciate that for presentational reasons, Cultural Protocols do not always look sufficiently "official" to new players - but please be assured, they are part of the rules! According to Dorvik's Cultural Protocols, most of Dorvik's population are Lorman (real life Prussian/German) and Mothin (real life Bulgarian). No English-equivalent population is mentioned in Protocols at all, which means a party in Dorvik with English character names is problematic, because as a Moderator, I am expected to ensure the general character of the Cultural Protocol is respected. If you could provide a plausible/convincing explanation for why voters in Dorvik would vote for an English party, then I could consider cutting you some leeway, but to be honest, your safest bet is probably to use a mixture of German/Prussian and Bulgarian names for your characters. Behind the Name's random name generator is a good resource for coming up with non-English character names: http://www.behindthename.com/random/ Also, don't hesitate to talk to other players here for advice on generating names (they may well be able to give better advice than me!). Anyway, sorry for any confusion but I hope the situation is clearer now. Lecture is over! Cheers, Aquinas Moderation |

Message | OOC: Thanks for the heads up moderator, will take all this on board. Can honestly say though that the WIlliam hartnell name is a total coincidence! Never seen Doctor Who in my life! Cheers |

Message | OOC: Thanks guys. Just to be clear, it's the character names I'm being most picky about here. Under the way Cultural Protocols are interpreted at the moment, you are entitled to keep your party name in English, although I will say, just on a personal level, that it can look really cool when all the parties are named using the nation's native language(s). Google Translate (see http://translate.google.com/m/translate ) is helpful for translations. But anyway, that's something for you guys to decide amongst yourselves. |
