Bill: Grand National Coalition reshuffle

Details

Submitted by[?]: Grand Nationalist Fraction

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 3860

Description[?]:

The formation of a new coalition proves to be difficult. Therefore we suggest a reshuffle.
LNC would like to continue their support, but is willing to give up two Ministries.

MessageMr. Speaker,

It's not difficult if we communicate before rushing to set things to vote. A reshuffle was never necessary in the first place. The GNRG only supported a reshuffle to include a particular new party. Now we have 4 cabinet proposals up for vote, with little communication between parties. If we had been contacted, it would not have been a surprise that we would strongly oppose this proposal.

MessageMr Speaker,

We will not be supporting this coalition. While we commend LNC for trying to constructively resolve this mess, The Shadow Alliance cannot support this, as it does not recognize the growing support of the new parties.

Instead, we will be supporting Movement for Percyism's proposal.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We have remained quiet on this issue so far, but I have carefully read through all of the debates, and out of all the proposals that have been submitted for consideration, the ECA feel that this one is the most balanced. This is the proposal that makes the most sense. Like The Shadow Alliance are very strongly opposed to any party other than the largest party taking the Presidency. It is completely undemocratic, arrogant and insensitive to nominate another party for Head of Government.

Of course, it has been a long standing policy of the ECA to make the Head of State and Head of Government separate officials. But that is a debate for another time.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I just want to make it clear that I had absolutely no care for what the Shadow Alliance and the ECA thought of the cabinet proposals. They are not members of the ruling coalition, and they were not invited to join the ruling coalition.

We have the majority, in fact we have a supermajority: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=439167 | Once we establish that the coalition has the mandate of the people, it is up to us - the coalition members - to decide how the responsibilities are distributed among ourselves. We don't care about the opposition's feelings about what is fair or unfair within the coalition, as they are not members of the coalition.

It is arrogant and undemocratic for any party, whether it is the largest or not, to claim exclusive right to the Presidency (the MfP has not claimed exclusive right to the Presidency, but the ECA is saying that they should). There is nothing undemocratic about a supermajority of MPs electing the leader of a small party to be the President. The President, who is currently from the LNC, does not only represent the persons who voted for the LNC; he represents all the persons who voted for the coalition. There is also nothing arrogant about coalition members supporting the leader of a small party; the LNC leader did not nominate himself for Presidency.
