MessageM. Speaker,

Recently, Golavia had to cancel a planned highway because one little old lady didn't want to sell her house. Sometimes the individual must give up their property for the good of the public or our corporations. A McAndalay restaurant is better for everyone than a house too. Let's unite for the common good and pass this reasonable legislation.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I am in favour of eminent domain for government use, but not for private corporate use.

MessageM.Speaker,

We will support the bill as long as the government is seizing the private property, even though it is also used for corporate use too.

MessageM. Speaker,

To address the concerns of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, this bill does not allow corporations to seize property directly. All eminent domain transactions would occur with the government as an intermediary. Property owners would be compensated fairly under existing law.

MessageMr Speaker,

The Shadow Alliance will not be supporting this bill.

If the government wants to acquire land from somebody, then they should enter into fair negotiations, rather than seizing the property rights of the people,
