Bill: Tuition of Higher Education

Details

Submitted by[?]: Post-Revolutionary Pragmatic Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2170

Description[?]:

This party, in concordance with its new minister of Education, would like to introduce the following bill. Currently, students which are not able to afford their tuition bill may apply for a state loan. While we view this as a good compared to many other practices which exist, we would consider it to be better if the state subsidised tuition to the extent that everybody would be able to afford it. This would ensure that our youths are not burdened with debt before they start theior professional life, while still making it enough of an investment that it will not be enter in lightly.

MessageNot all students go to university fopr the education, by keeping the loan system in place it will discourage those who are only going there for the lifestyle, due to the fact they will owe money.
People who truly want the education will not worry about the loan repayments as when they get a job they should be higher earners than without the univeristy education, so they should be able to repay the loan easily.
We therefore think the current system is fine.
