Bill: Mayoral appointments
Details
Submitted by[?]: Hosian Socialist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 3870
Description[?]:
In our laws it is up to the people to elect mayors in direct elections. We wish to change this to allow the Head of State to choose mayors as they should have more of a say in government and have their voices heard. Municipal Councils will still be elected by popular sovereignty and can represent the voice of their constituents, but the voice of the HoS should also be heard through their appointed mayors. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The appointment of mayors.
Old value:: Citizens elect their mayor directly in a local election.
Current: Citizens elect their mayor directly in a local election.
Proposed: The Head of State oversees the appointment of all mayors.

Message | Mr. Speaker, We disagree. The people still have their voices heard on municipal councils, but we should have the Emperor's voice somewhere in local government. I yield |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Since our Monarch has sadly had to stand in an election, the mayoral appointments woukd become extremley partisan and single sided. If we were to fully re-instate the monarchy in Luthori, we would be more open to having an Independent Emperor making these appointments. Eric Richardson Leader of the Liberal Progressives |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We find that no matter what these appointments would be extremely partisan! There are some parties in the Empire that oppose the monarchy to begin with! Besides, they would be no more partisan than if it was done in a general election. I yield |
