| Currently, torture is never allowed, however we believe that if the circumstances are great and vital information is being withheld, we have an obligation to innocent people whose lives may be in danger to do whatever it takes to save their lives, even at the cost of torturing someone who is withholding information. The passing of this bill does not mean that torture will be in everyday use, however it means if say a person knows some information which is key to saving an innocent persons lives, we have the right to torture them as a means of extracting that information. Tell me what is better, one tortured person who is guilty and a safe innocent person, or one happy murderer and a dead innocent person? Imagine if your child or loved one was taken, and someone knew how to get them back, but if you didn't they would die? What would you rather, just leave it and let your loved one die and this other person basically win, or would you rather torture him until he reveals the information, then save the life of your loved one, an innocent person. |
