Message | We thank the RLP for a chance to respond to their concerns. The short term loss of revenue to the state through subsidies for start up of a private power station will be more than offset by the returns the state will see through the collection of taxes from the generally higher wages paid to nuclear power plant employees, and the taxes on goods that will be manufactured more cheaply and competitively than other nations. The indirect revenue streams generated when goods are exported will help our balance of payments enormously. We will also not be reliant on importing great quantities of fuel to run this reactor. Furthermore, construction of this reactor will align with our defence policies and perhaps save us some money by our ability to process our uranium for nuclear research 'on site' rather than via another third party - surely this is the responsible way of keeping our defence program 'in house'. |
