Message | Thank you CP, someone has finally come out and said 'NO' to further preventable deaths. Our concerns here are though that, like all substances banned, there is a tendency for a black market, and as such it is an unregulated market. Prohibition of alcohol will lead to a gap that organised crime can fill, and profit from. Our initial reaction is to support, but we must wonder if it would be more effective to put money into education and preventative measures. PSS leans to support, but awaits further comments from other parties. |

Message | The Black Market can be effectively dealth with by two other bills we have proposed. The one concerning ID Cards and the one concerning given aid to refugees. Both of these bills would do a lot to prevent the smuggling and cheap labour that makes the black market viable. We take your comments on board, however the Conservatives view this as an ideal opportunity to use the forces of the law to deal an effective blow against smugglers/criminals/the Lodamun Mafia aswell as drunkeness. |

Message | Our citizens are intelligent and mature enough to make these decisions on their own. We oppose completely the sweeping, paternalistic tone of this legislation. We would like, however, to invite those in favor to come out for a few drinks to discuss it. |

Message | Is there a religious exemption on alcohol? You know, like for "communion-style" events. Regardless, we will vote against this bill as currently written, but we are curious. As for the black market issues, I'd refer the CP to the American Constitution, Amendments 18 and 21. Al Capone. etc. Prohibition didn't work. And the Yanks still can't manage to control their stoned population, even though drugs are against the law and prosecuted with the full strength of their Federal Government. ID cards can be forged and giving aid to refugees still creates a group of people who are "cheap labour." If a large group has desire for something against the law, the conditions for a black market are there, regardless of other Kegger at the AAS HQ tonight. |

Message | JLP: No-one knows what the ID cards look like, all the security systems that will be inbuilt into the card, we are not a third world nation, we do have the technical abilities to do this. Aid is given to refugees so that they will not be forced into cheap labour, as happens currently. If the law enforcement bodies are united, and our borders are secured against smugglers, there shouldn't be a great problem in enforcing such a law. ooc: Prohibition didn't work in the US because of corruption amongst the law enforcers, if there had been a united effort against Al Capone, prohibition may have worked. However thats not to say I am in favour of prohibition. |

Message | "Is there a religious exemption on alcohol? You know, like for "communion-style" events." This question was asked by the JLP (thank you JLP, that is a first class enquiry) - The PSS would also like an answer. While we also confident about our ability to produce a world class ID card, we would note that the legislation for this has not yet passed, and our feeling is that it wont pass (as much as we will support it). We think the 2 pronged strategy (ID cards + prohibition) has much merit if - but only IF both are accepted. On the other hand, a shot at cleansing society of mind-altering drugs, not to mention saving lives, is very appealing. Providing no other major revelation comes out in the debate, we tentatively support. |

Message | The AAS would like to agree on one issue. The JLP is right - there is an open-tab at "Anakah's Arms", Anakagrad, Meria... tonight. All are welcome... even the prohibitionist killjoys. Hell, it might be their last chance to loosen up before they outlaw fun, completely. The AAS opposes. We were briefly interested in the PSS suggestion of "a shot at cleansing society of mind-altering drugs"... but that might have been because we misread it as "a shot at cleansing society WITH mind-altering drugs"... |
