Bill: Local Government Policy on Nuclear Power

Details

Submitted by[?]: Grand Republican Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2172

Description[?]:

The Grand Republican Party believes in the great opportunities created by the creation and building of Nuclear Power Plants. Not wishing to impose upon industries, the GRP instead believes that Local Governments should be allowed to judge whether or not their state needs Nuclear Power, and whether or not to contract out to companies to build them. They will be more able to judge their local power needs, and also if they are neccessary and the expense justified.

MessageNay. This allows governments to ban nuclear plants, which is anti-free market.

MessageThis proposal appears to be inconsistent with the standing Rutanian energy policies. The government encourages sustainable power but has put the management of plants in the hands of private businesses. We are unsure how this decision would affect existing nuclear power plants and we are therefore reluctant to support it.
