Bill: Basic Income Introduction
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberal League
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 3882
Description[?]:
This bill will establish a minimum income for all people of Hutori. It will assure that the starting point for everyone is not abject poverty, rather it is enough to live a modest life on. If you want more than this basic amount (enough for a small apartment, food on the table, and clothes on your back) then you have to work for it. This is a great benefit especially to the younger generation, students, artists, and others who can now devote more time to these matters rather than work. |

Message | There is a reason we refused to allow this pass the first time. This is going to consume a massive amount of our budget to ensure this ia brought through to support the laziest people in our country. Who is to say that many people will chose to simply do nothing and collect their government cheque and live in their government paid for apartment. This is going to be subject to obscene abuse the "grasshoppers" in society... those people we note who are most likely to support the Liberal League during an election. We also protest the Liberal League's insinuation that everyone the moment they enter adulthood are automatically in poverty. That is an insulting mass generalization of the Hutorian people. Message | Those are exactly who we are talking about. People who would be free to pursue their passions. Specifically students and artists would benefit immensely from this policy. And yes we are proud to call this our voter base. We firmly believe that all students should be given a base income during their studies and this policy would do this coupled with a virtual end to homelessness. We do not believe that everyone is automatically in poverty, rather those who are in poverty currently have to either work or live on the streets. This changes that base level of poverty and raises it to a small apartment and food on the table and clothes on your back. It would stop crime dead in its tracks. Overall any costs are well worth the numerous benefits. Ella Myers Minister of Health and Social Services |
