Bill: Gun Control

Details

Submitted by[?]: Telamon Social Democratic Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2171

Description[?]:

As many of our parties have been worried about guns on the streets we propose tightening the legislation regarding gun ownership.

Also we do not propose preventing shooting or hunting as hobbies. We simply wish that the guns used in those hobbies should be the property, and under surveillance of, registered shooting and hunting clubs.

We also see no reason why people should be allowed to own guns and keep them in their own homes. Anyone using guns for their hobbies will still be able to do that and outside hobbies we see no reason for private individuals to use guns. Idea of people using them for selfdefense is for us an unhealthy delegation of governments violence monopoly to its citizens in a manner that cannot guarantee that no excessive force is used.

MessageIn the US recreational drugs are illegal, but they are very easy to obtain. If I wanted I could get them so easy.

Lesson:

Banning does not make it any better.

Random fact: In cases where players introduce RP laws to a nation and then leave, Moderation reserves the discretion to declare the RP laws void if they appear to have fallen into disuse. In particular, please bear in mind that a player who is inexperienced with Particracy role-play and has joined a nation as the only party there should not generally be expected to abide by RP laws implemented by previous players who have been and left.
