Description[?]:

Mr Speaker,

free trade allows our companies to gain free access to the world market while expanding consumer choice. The current policy is unfortunately based on the idea of trade wars assuming that free trade must be reciprocal to be beneficial. This, however, is a fallacy, as countries who shield themselves foreign goods might benefit a few sectors of industry but hurt countless others. We thus propose to abandon tariffs altogether and, recognizing the mutually beneficial nature of economic cooperation, additionally suggest to concentrate more on free trade to assist other countries in raising their standard of living.

Prof. Hans Granlund
