Bill: Alorian Culture Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Independent Capitalist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2172

Description[?]:

Fourteen countries, mostly new ones (in fact, Aloria's the oldest country with a Parliament title), have the title "Parliament" for their legislature. It is the default to new nations, actually, which means that every country that comes after Pontesi will have a Parliament until it is renamed with a 2/3 vote. In comparison, Senate is second at eight and House of Representatives at three. Imperial Senate is also at three. Everything else is unique except a few with two countries that have those titles (http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewvariable.php?variable=LEGISLATURE_NAME). Aloria needs an original name for their legislature like the head of state and head of government titles. Seeing as Aloria's a confederacy, "Parliament of the Regions" fits best in my opinion. I am astonished that Aloria still has a default variable. We need a culture!

MessageBut does the ICP not support renaming regions 'nations'?

Furthermore, what is the point in this?

MessageThe ICP supports renaming regions as "countries." The current bill will most probably fail next month. If I were to come up with another bill like that down the road I'd obviously add another clause to rename the Parliament as Parliament of the Countries. Obviously. As for the point, wait until I write the bill description. Sheesh, you're impatient.

That's my justification. It has more justification than the bill to raise the "Governing Council" by one seat (when actually, that isn't the governing council it's changing but the legislature/parliament).

MessageBesides the ICP's positions that have gone extreme on the capitalist and federalist issues, the ICP is centrist in the other areas.

MessageWe feel it neccesary to point out that the 'Confederate Aloria more' Act is about to pass and that bill actually contains the re-naming mentioned in this bill.

Presumably, if that bill passes this one will be withdrawn?

MessageIndeed. And it's going to fail by 74 seats. It's a 2/3 vote.

MessageSo are people going to vote for this? I suppose it won't hurt to keep it in debate for a few more months. Debate seems to be a foreign concept in Aloria nowadays.
