Bill: Toward a More Stable Democracy

Details

Submitted by[?]: Communist Party of Aldegar

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 3893

Description[?]:

In light of our bipartisan support of the AFD's bill to help stabilize Aldegar as we transition into democracy, we wish to propose some items of debate as to how legislative changes should be handled, going forward. These are designed to let us pay more attention to the business of governing rather than vote-maximizing or pointless negation.

1- With political instability comes economic instability. The CPA proposes maintaining a broadly Keynesian set of economic policies- basic income, healthcare, guaranteed essential services, support of labor and some support DWC's, etc.- in place for at least two election cycles in order to help the nation's economy regain and maintain its footing. After that, parties can be free to communize or liberalize as per their wishes.

2- Strict adherence to the two-month pre-voting debate period. This has not been an issue as such since the law was instated, but it is nonetheless good to reinforce.

3- The potential for an absolute limit on the number of proposals per month (or year, depending on preference.)

MessageA sound proposal. We will support proposals of the CPA. However we must stress that Radical Proposals of a far left nature will not be supported.

MessageCPA will adhere to the two-cycle moratorium proposed in Part 1. We fully agree that this is no time for experimentation.

MessageIn light of what this means for current bills:

1- CPA will abstain on full the full Phone Service Regulation bill we proposed.
2- We will abstain on our current salary cap bill (moving to union negotiations) but ONLY on the proviso that we maintain the current policy on salary caps.
3- The Natural Monopoly and Energy Regulations bills remain at Yes, because these are designed to reverse recent changes made by opposition parties. We humbly request that other parties abstain or vote yes.
4- No change on industrial action or workers' council policies.
