Bill: Gambling Reforms 3897

Details

Submitted by[?]: Choice

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 3898

Description[?]:

Currently, gambling is legal, but only in private homes and casinos with special licences. However we strongly believe our government should firmly keep away from issues such as these, our government has no right to tell people what they can and can't gamble, and where. We believe that gambling should be legal across the nation, no regulation what so ever.

This is at best a provincial issue and the issue should be left as such.

MessageWe strongly disagree. Any habit-forming substances or activities must be regulated to assure that our society functions properly.

We don't want to see millions lose their jobs and homes because of a drug or gambling addiction. Regulations on gambling and drugs can help prevent this and negate the worst effects of both.

We did not disagree with our Honourable Coalition Partners that Gambling should be regulated, simply by lower levels of government. The Provincal Ministries of Justice would understand the issues far better then we would.

Random fact: The people in your nation don't like inactive parties. When you often abstain from voting for a bill, they will dislike your party and your visibility to the electorate will decrease significantly. Low visibility will means you are likely to lose seats. So keep in mind: voting Yes or No is always better than Abstaining.
