Bill: Gun Ownership Reforms 3898
Details
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 3899
Description[?]:
Currently, individuals are allowed to own firearms as long as they do not have a history of dangerous mental illness or a violent criminality. Despite it being very good that we prohibit the sale of guns to established mentally ill people and violent criminals, this measure still does not in our opinion go far enough. There have been so many deaths of innocent people due to undiagnosed mentally ill people or criminals not yet with a record being able to easily access dangerous weaponry. We believe that adult individuals should be allowed to own guns under strict license conditions, thus including training on how to properly and safely handle a firearm, mental evaluation of the customer is taken by the proper authorities first and this should ultimately reduce gun crime across all of Hutori. |

Message | Mr Speaker The HNA fails to realise that without proper training or knowledge with weaponry, individuals won't even be able to protect themselves from criminals, if anything they'd be putting other innocent individuals at risk. Plus criminals under this legislation would not be able to easily access such weaponary. The Rt. Hon. Patrick Dale MP Leader of Choice |

Message | This assumes the subjects of the crown who own firearms are morons, rather than enthusiasts who are most likely members of clubs or individuals who require such firearms for work purposes. I think most who engage in hunting activities or are members if clubs would laugh at the idea they are untrained and wouldn't know how to use the system. The last sentence makes no sense. Under current legislation criminals are not easily able to access such weaponry legally. The proposed legislation simply makes it harder for law abiding subjects to acquire weapons. Message | Mr Speaker Under our legislation, enthusiasts and club members will still be able to access weaponry, those are the kind of people who our party wants to defend the rights to own guns. What this legislation will do is instead make things harder for untrained people who will likely cause more harm than good to get a hold of weaponry. The strict licencing that we propose will be easy enough to get a hold of if the person has a sensible amount of knowledge of how to handle firearms. This just filters out the less able and less knowledgeable people. Plus criminals who have not yet offended who will do so under current legislation are able to get a hold of firearms far too easily. The Rt. Hon. Patrick Dale MP Leader of Choice |
