Bill: Foreign Marriages Reforms 3898
Details
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 3899
Description[?]:
Currently, only foreign marriages that comply with domestic policy regarding marriage are recognised. However we believe that all foreign marriages should be recognised, regardless of domestic policy regarding marriage. In their nation of origin these people got married under that nations terms, thus we believe that we shouldn't penalise people for coming from a different nation with different marriage policies. |

Message | Another blatant attempt by Choice to legalise incesteous marriage by the back door. Shame on the other parties for supporting this and subverting Hutori national law to that of foreign countries. |

Message | Mr Speaker Even when we tried legalising incest, we never before wanted to also legalise incestuous marriage. However we believe that people who are married in other countries which would not normally be wed here should remain classified as wed, it is the fairest and most tolerant option. The Rt. Hon. Patrick Dale MP Leader of Choice |

Message | How is it fair if those marriages are denied to natives of these shores? What if these foreign marriages are not only illegal under Hutori law but also regarded as obscene, such as incesteous or involving those under the age of consent? Why should they be recognised? |

Message | Mr Speaker Once again, can we remind the meathead at the HNA that in our failed incest reforms that incestuous marriage would not have been recognised even under our new policy. However we at Choice support some forms of marriage which are not currently legal in our nation such as polygamy. But as we have stated, it is unfair for people to come from another nation in which they were married only for our government to tell them that their marriage is not recognised by our government. Marriage overall is something our government shouldn't put restrictions on unless it harms one or more of the individuals involved in obvious ways. The Rt. Hon. Patrick Dale MP Leader of Choice |

Message | Mr speaker, Can we remind the tool who leads Choice that THIS bill effectively legalises incesteous marriages in Hutori as long as the marriage is conducted overseas. This bill by definition prevents the government from having any view on a marriage that is entered into overseas eve. If it is illegal under domestic law. Does the leader of Choice not understand the impact of his own bill? Choice must accept the rediculous notion put forward in the last statement. By very definition this Bill prevents the government putting any restrictions on abusive or harmful marriages that are entered into overseas. Marie-Anne Trogothen |

Message | Mr Speaker, Another area of concern is arranged marriages. Currently illegal in Hutori it will be perfectly legal under the proposed legislation for parents to send their children overseas to conduct an arranged marriage, which would then be recognised and perfectly legal in Hutori if this law is passed. Vote no to arranged and forced marriages. Marie-Anne Trogothen Prime Minister |
