Bill: National anthem change

Details

Submitted by[?]: National Party (NP)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 3906

Description[?]:

As questioned from the colleagues of the DKP Party, here we propose some little changes to the national anthem, to underline the story of our nation that's not only made of Narikaton influences but also from Darnussia, the liberators. Every suggestion is welcomed. Do you think we should add any title before the verses of the anthem?

MessageDear colleagues,

We would suggest for the last verses of the two parts to be bundled together and to form a third part, destined to both lands. This way, Narikaton would be proud of her liberation and Darnussia would be proud of its power. This would give us :

"O, Narikaton, behold, your day is dawning,
The threat of night has been banished away,
And the lark of freedom in the morning sings,
As though the divine firmament would sing.
The powers of the night are vanquished by the empire light,

O, rise, Darnussia, raise up high
Your head, wreathed with great memories.
O, rise, Darnussia, you showed to the Terra
That you drove away the slavery,
And that you never feared the oppression,

Your day is dawning, O island of birth.
Your day has come, O land of birth."

We are also unsure about the use of the word "empire", which could upset our Narikatonians fellow, given that they consider themselves as "victims" of the said empire.

MessageDear DKP president, your changes are great, i approve them on the whole line. In the final analysis, do you think we should change the word Empire to the original word Morning? (or maybe to not repeat the same word that was used in a few lines before, we could sostitute "By the morning" with "By the new day light" or "By the dawn light" or something like that)

MessageDear colleagues,

Our opinion is that empire may be too controversial a word to be seen in our national anthem. If there are no obvious replacement, we can use "morning". However, we see your point : you want the light to shine from another thing than the sun : a recognizable political structure which most people could identify to. This is why we proposed in our other constitutional bill to replace "republic" by "commonwealth". Although we realize not everyone seem to like this choice, it is still far more distinctive than "republic", which is generic enough.

MessageI would personally be in favour of a completely new national anthem, one that avoids strictly Darnussian and republican terminology and avoids imperialist and Narikatonite terminology.

MessageYeah that's another good idea, one new anthem... but to be sincere I dont think i'm the best person to do it... if there's one willing to propose it we can discuss it here :-)

MessageDear colleagues,

We would welcome a proposal for a new national anthem, however we must see what would be in it before judging if it would be good or not. We have a defavorable prejudice toward this idea because the current anthem has the advantage to carry a lot of history, and the proposals we made are trying to improve it. We wouldn't like an anthem saying nothing of our peoples.

MessageDear colleagues, we implemented to the bill the changes we agreed with the DKP yesterday. I personally think this is a great anthem that our people should feel proud of. I will keep this bill in debate for even some time, to receive and discuss new ideas or even the proposal of a whole new anthem.
