Description[?]:
Mr Speaker, in order to attain the diverse and bustling media landscape that we all wish to see flourish - except for the Labour party whose policy it is to outlaw for-profit media of course -, subsidies are simply unnecessary. They only create submissive court reporters for the political establishment as they are not subjected to customer scrutiny, having their expenses covered by the government. In contrast, conventional private media has to take into account the demand of the public for objective journalism and diverse opinions, which makes the superior to state-subsidized news outlets. Apart from privatization, we also need to make sure that politician are no longer protected from investigative reporting through restrictions on "personal stories", which should not be much of a problem given that nowadays politicians seem quite happy about having their home stories covered by the media anyway. We also suggest to abolish the hate speech clause which, while deriving from good intentions, allows activist judges to suppress political opinions they do not approve. Civil society is quite capable of censoring those who continue to spout hate-filled rubbish without having to resort to the brute force of the state. Erwin Schausberger Leader of Frisinnede Venstre |

Random fact: Players have a responsibility to differentiate between OOC (out-of-character) and IC (in-character) behaviour, and to make clear when they are communicating in OOC or IC terms. Since Particracy is a role-playing game, IC excesses are generally fine, but OOC attacks are not. However, players must not presume this convention permits them to harass a player with IC remarks that have a clear OOC context. |
