Bill: Cultural Protocols Discussion

Details

Submitted by[?]: Conservative Party of Luthori

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 3969

Description[?]:

So as all of you know the cultural protocols were updated last in the 3500s, some may argue that this was a short time ago while others might say it was long. I think that either way they could use a good update.

Here is the current protocols,
http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=384694

I think we need to update a few things including, the monarchy and the Royal family's house nane (because it's now Adlerberg-Villayn), the religion section (maybe we can include a few atheists and agnostics as well as a few Catholics/Patriarchals), ethnicity coukd use a bit of editing to reflect our Liberal immigration policies in the 3800s, language seems fine but could use a bit of tweaking.

What are your thoughts? Please share them :)

MessageI'm pretty bad at doing these things, but yes it really needs updating. The ethnicity needs a lot of updating due to immigration over the past like 200 years, and due to large amount of secular parties and their popularity, we're not exactly a major religious nation.

MessageI would argue that we still are relatively religious, it just think that 10 percent of 'supposed' atheists should be factored in and to do that Hosainism would need to be taken down to 85 percent.

MessageI think we should decrease the Hosian population further.

MessageThe percentage of irreligious people should be higher than 10 but not too much higher. While Lurhori has transitioned to a more secular constitutional monarchy it still seems like a very religious nation. I don't think the number of non-religious should be above 15%. As for ethnicity, there should definitely be a higher amount of immigrants but again I think the native Luthori population should still constitute at least above 80%, probably closer to 85 or 90 percent, of the population. The other question is where are our immigrants coming from? Are they other Artanians, Majatrans, Gao-Showa? Are they mostly Hosian or has it been a mix? I'm interested to hear people's thoughts.

MessageI agree with wat you are saying.

I think that the majority of immigrants would be coming from Beluzia and Ibutho. Maybe some Gao-Showa as well considering how much the nation has changed as of recent, I think an increase in Hulstrian is also appropriate since their home country doesn't have an equal monarchy any more, and is now ruled by one Royal family.

MessageAlso, just looking through the recent past and what has caused issues, we should come up with current poll numbers on what percent of Luthorians support the monarchy and what percent support republicanism. I'm actually okay with having a rather large undercurrent within the Empire that supports Republicanism as I think it would make the potential RP better and bring some IC reasons for why parties like Choice, which are openly republican, do well. I think by coming up with numbers in the Cultural Protocols we can forestall a lot of problems in the future.

I'd also recommend we come up with a regular timeline for updating the protocols. Maybe every 50-100 years in game time? Just so that we can keep up with general demographic and political trends within the country.

MessageOOC: One thing that was forgotten in the last cultural protocol is the "german/swedish" nobility that has resided in the Northern parts of Utagia. Including the current Emperor with these roots. I think the protocol before the current one mentioned this. Approx 1-2% of the population has swedish/german names, many of these are barons and baronets, lower nobility. And the City of Adlerberg was founded by their ancestors.

Messageooc: Also, many of the Hosianists are inspired by "liberal hosianism" created by Bultmann in the early 3800's. Which meant that semi-religious people could adapt to these more liberal views on religion.

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections.
