Description[?]:
Mr Speaker, the law as it is leaves the population at large largely defenceless against violent, firearms-related crime, because citizens lack the equipment to defend themselves when no police is around and even if police is present, they are not on an equal footing with the criminal because they may not carry a simple gun. We believe that the "special training" that the law mandates for specific units should be given to every policeman in his basic professional education, for we must not remain inactive when public safety is endangered by the fact that criminals are heavily over-equipped when compared to the weapons of our public security forces. Message | Herr President, All this would do would be to make it more easy for criminals to own firearms. While we welcome the introduction of standard firearms for the police, we believe the first article as it stands is an unenforceable and undesirable erosion of the state's monopoly on the legitimate use of force. To solve the problems Herr Theisen is seeing, the second article should have sufficed, and we would have supported him. Alas, the way the law is currently put will make our streets less safe, rather than more so. Nelline Opland FP Leader |

Message | Herr President, I do not understand the benefits of either of these suggestions, and I stand will my colleague from FP in that regard. How does making guns easier to buy make people safer from guns? How many people does the member think with mental illness have a history of it? How many criminals does the member think are criminals merely due to mental illness? A society which does not regulate what are - essentially - weapons of destruction and death is a society lacking in logic. PA stands for logical solutions, Herr President, and as usual FV stands for quite the opposite. Rasmus Sunde PA Leader |

Message | Mr Speaker, it is quite a logical insight that the only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, and as the police will not always be around when a crime occurs it is necessary to give law-abiding citizens citizens the means to employ legitimate self-defense when they face imminent danger. Unless Herr Sunde, FV will not forbid a father to defend his family against an armed violent robber breaking into their home. Until the police arrives, the victims may already be dead or their property stolen, and we will not condemn them to standing on the sidelines while their life and belongings are threatened. Message | Herr President, And unlike Mr Theisen, this party will not merely allow guns into the hands of criminals in the first place. If the argument that the right honourable member is really trying to sell is that a gun in everyone's pocket makes the world a safer place, then I truly congratulate on being capable of saying it with a straight face. All the research points otherwise, Herr President, though it certainly doesn't surprise me to see the FV once against rejecting facts and reality. Rasmus Sunde PA Leader |

Message | Mr Speaker, criminals already have guns precisely because they do not care about the legal restrictions attached to gun ownership. The prospect of facing off against an armed citizenship is a deterrent to potential criminals, whereas there is no such thing under the law as it is, which PA would prefer to retain, leaving our citizens defenceless. Perhaps the hon. gentleman does not care for public safety all that much. Johan Theisen FV Parliamentary Leader |

Message | Herr President, The idea that the answer to criminals being able to get their hands on guns - and, may I add, that it is truly questionable about how major an issue this is - is to make it even easier for people to get their hands on guns is absurdity. What we need is less guns, Herr President. What we need is to crack right down on the ways these criminals manage to get guns in the first place. This is once again a clear indication of the sort of Kazulmark this Government of chaos has wrought upon our people. Siri Hægeland PA Leader |

Message | Mr Speaker, this government is tackling criminal activity, not self-defense. This government is cracking down on criminals, not on law-abiding citizens who happen to own a firearm. We are committed to fighting criminals and not guns. That is the difference to the socialist policy. Johan Theisen FV Parliamentary Leader |
