Message | TOTAL feel compelled to advise at this stage we already have a nucleus of a Paramilitary Unit. Absalom ben Adamah has 25 people acting as a bodyguard unit for himself and Byron Whiteflag. These individuals are employed directly by the party and are mainly ex-special ops acquired via contacts of Byron Whiteflag, who served as defence minister for many terms. If this proposal fails, TOTAL undertake to disband the PBU (Personal Bodyguard Unit) in controlled stages. |

Message | We feel it would be beneficial for the nation, and help ensure stability, if the units are at least unified in some matter (ie through the creation of this bill) |

Message | The AAS wonders if this is not just a backdoor for the Imperialists to achieve a sanction for their (alleged) House of Bandorras Blackshirts... The AAS has no paramilitary units, and has no intention of forming any. However, if the collective opinion were to appear to support it, the AAS might think of promoting some of our Young Anarchists Front into paramilitary status. |

Message | Yes that would have been the idea. However, we would like to reaffirm that the monarchy shall be strictly neutral, therefore we sincerely doubt as to whether the Imperial Socialists Paramilitarys will be mere 'blackshirt' heavies. |

Message | The AAS believes that the ToTAL has an interesting idea of what constitutes 'proved successful'... |

Message | OOC: In reality, ToTAL has about 2000 paramilitaries under arms - a generally accepted figure from witnesses in Meria, although the official party line is only 25 ex special ops soldiers in a bodyguard unit. The vast majority of these paramilitaries are poorly trained religious militants - comitted to the cause to the point of willing to sacrifice themselves but essentially unskilled. The 'core' 25 special ops however consist of some ex sevicemen and several currently serving in the Likatonian army. |

Message | RLP supports, as protection of the party assemblies has always bween of paramount importance to us in an era when civil debate is becoming less possible. |

Message | There seems to be some sort of consensus now, I shall put to vote... |
Date | 19:59:11, January 16, 2006 CET | From | Commonwealth Workers Army | To | Debating the Defence Minister Calls for the Formation of Paramilitary Units |
Message | The AAS is somewhat surprised to see so much support. 291 Votes FOR paramilitaries. Well, we said we would support, if there appeared to be a consensus.... and, even without us, there is more than 50% support. The AAS is true to it's word. The AAS is re-instating an old Meria militia unit, that served valiantly in times of war. Members of the Anarchist Youth Front are, hereby, promoted to paramilitary status, and enrolled in the ancient and historic "Merian Bonewalkers". The AAS expects "Merian Bonewalkers" to be for Domestic 'Guard' service, alone, since they are a Meria militia. |

Message | Yes, the leadership of the ISM is absolutely stunned, we had visions that it would struggle to get through without AAS support. I'll start up another thread, so that we can post details of our unit. |

Message | The AAS saw the direction it was going, and we did as we said we would... we supported when there was a consensus. However, we had not imagined the consensus would become a landslide. |

Random fact: Players have a responsibility to differentiate between OOC (out-of-character) and IC (in-character) behaviour, and to make clear when they are communicating in OOC or IC terms. Since Particracy is a role-playing game, IC excesses are generally fine, but OOC attacks are not. However, players must not presume this convention permits them to harass a player with IC remarks that have a clear OOC context. |
