Bill: Removal of All Blasphemy Laws
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Progressive Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 3925
Description[?]:
Proposed legislature which would make all discriminatory laws regarding religion illegal, whereas now it may be legal on the local level, for the good of the entire nation, not just those affiliated with the majority religion in their areas. Blasphemy has no legal definition and may be interpreted differently by any number of parties, which makes leaving it up to local government so dangerous. No government, be it federal, state or local, should determine what is legal or illegal for an individual to worship. |

Message | We agree that democracy is important, but believe that equal rights for all -- not just some -- is a much more superior issue to worry about. Not to mention that the act of Parliament voting on this measure is democracy in and of itself. We represent the nation, so we should be representing the entire nation, not just some. |
Date | 14:53:30, October 19, 2015 CET | From | Bailonese Council Communist Party (BCCP) | To | Debating the Removal of All Blasphemy Laws |
Message | We agree with the SGCP and the BCR on this issue. |
Date | 05:19:21, October 20, 2015 CET | From | National Freedom Party | To | Debating the Removal of All Blasphemy Laws |
Message | We stand strongly, firmly, and clearly with the NPP. Human rights are just that, rights. Rights are not to be voted on or decided at the local level, especially when they are human rights, as are rights to freedom of speech and religion. |
