Bill: Parliamentary Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Freedom Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 3926
Description[?]:
An act to reduce the number of seats in order to maximize the ability of the leading party to form a Coalition government or attain an outright Majority. The current Parliamentary situation intensifies the need for this reform and surely points out the flaws in our current system of organization. Also, limits the length of Bills the only way we can, by limiting the ability of parties to accumulate a massive proposal quota. Will make bills brief, to the point, and not these expansive works which will degrade the ability of legislation to pass and only serve as campaign statements of what that party sees as perfection. This is a democracy and such a system depends on compromise. |

Message | This proposal, if passed, would be an affront to the democratic process. The NPP would possibly get behind Article 1 if the number were not so drastic, but will never vote to reduce the number of proposals allowed for a party. Let the democratic process work as it has been, and have unpopular proposals rejected rather than stopping the creation of them altogether. |
Date | 03:21:11, October 21, 2015 CET | From | National Freedom Party | To | Debating the Parliamentary Reform Act |
Message | We have eliminated Article 3 and changed Article 1 in hopes of gaining majority support for what we consider vital Constitutional Reforms. |
Date | 06:02:51, October 21, 2015 CET | From | Bailonese Council Communist Party (BCCP) | To | Debating the Parliamentary Reform Act |
Message | We agree with article 1 ("proposal quota"), but do not agree with article 2. We believe the seats should only ever be increased to promote better representation instead of majority governments. If the people wanted a majority government, they would have voted for it. With more seats, it allows more parties to be involved. If article 2 is not removed, we will vote against this bill due to its anti-democratic sanctions. |
Date | 06:09:52, October 21, 2015 CET | From | Beluzian Coalition of the Regions | To | Debating the Parliamentary Reform Act |
Message | We are opposed. There is no need to change the current situation. We believe that the number of proposals one can save should be reduced from 42 to 24 instead. |

Message | There are two ways to go about avoiding another Parliamentary Crisis, either decreasing the number of seats so that each Party MUST be a Coalition Partner or increase the number of seats and possibly have a majority of seats in the hands of one or two parties, the current number only creates chaos. We will add the BCR's suggested proposal. As this is a Constitutional Amendment it requires 2/3rds of us to vote in the affirmative which is why I am attempting to make this as much of a compromise as possible. We ask the other parties to recognize we all have wants and to settle with only some of what you've asked. |

Message | The increase in seats is extremely acceptable and pro-democratic. We will vote in approval. |
