Bill: Citizen's Assembly Act

Submitted by[?]: Totalitarian Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2173
Description[?]:
Presently, citizens are allowed to assemble in public, creating dangerous citizens for themselves and everyone around them. Recent riots in Bentara have shown that police do not have the powers required to control these groups. The Totalitarian Party proposes the police be given the right to disperse a group if they believe it poses a potential risk to public safety. |

Message | But what if the way in which those individuals are using the property puts others at risk? The Totalitarian Party does not want to rescind the citizens' right to use public property. We merely want to ensure they use the property safely. |

Message | If an individual commits a crime against another individual, then that individual will be prosecuted, until then they have a right to utilise their property. |

Message | This is not a matter of individuals, this is a matter of groups. A group has a much larger destructive potential than an individual - as such, standards that a group must adhere to should be stricter than the standards an individual must adhere to. |
Date | 22:11:49, January 17, 2006 CET | From | National Libertarian Party | To | Debating the Citizen's Assembly Act |
Message | There is no such thing as a collective "group", only multiple individuals. |
Date | 00:31:52, January 18, 2006 CET | From | Post-Revolutionary Pragmatic Party | To | Debating the Citizen's Assembly Act |
Message | A group is composed of multiple individuals, yes, but a group as a whole has qualities that individuals in themselves do not have. This is the principle behind the phalanx, behind a business, behind even society itself, one might argue. By your reasoning, there are no such things as triangles, only individual dots. |
