Bill: Books for all!
Details
Submitted by[?]: Libertarian-Socialist Coalition
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2173
Description[?]:
We at the LSP believe that libraries can be instrumental in exposing children to literature and research as well as providing a safe place for children to go. Yet, our current laws allow no public libraries whatsoever. This is denying valuable educational and intellectually stimulating material for those who cannot afford to simply buy a book from a private vendor. A bookstore is not a viable option for a poor child who wants to read about dinosaurs or Shakespeare. We believe that, rather than make the federal government create more bureaucracy, we should allow local governments the leeway to operate their library system as would work best for their populations, or at least to decide themselves whether or not to have a library system. Give kids a chance. Loosen up our draconian library-banning laws. |

Proposal[?] to change The government's policy towards the funding of libraries.
