Bill: Criminal Justice Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Pontesi Fascist Coalition

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2173

Description[?]:

This bill will strengthen our criminal justice system to reduce crime on our streets. Curfew time will be determined at 10:00 P.M.

Explanation of Articles:

1. By allowing the Minister of Justice to review all appellate cases, we will be able to bring greater consistency and ensure that legitimate cases get their day in court, while frivolous appeals are removed.

2. Curfews will reduce the number of crimes committed at night, leading to both a deterrent and an aid to police in responding to crimes.

3. Capital crimes must be punished! We must instill a sense of fear in would-be criminals that they will be punished if they carry out their heinous acts.

4. In serious situations, we must give our law enforcement agencies the ability to torture suspects in order to extract vital information necessary for the safety of innocent civilians or in matters of national security.

5. Education in prison, in addition to prison labor proposed by THEM, will reduce the number of repeat offenders.

MessageFirstly - "Curfew policy. (Curfew time to be determined in the Bill description)". You're missing something.

Otherwise we find this pretty abhorant besides article 4 and would have to oppose it.

MessageI vote no because of all of it except 5, why does Kurui support article 5 here and then vote for forced labour for prisoners in another bill?

MessageI can't speak for Kurui, but GotNation does not find support for Forced Labor and Educational Rehabilitation to be mutually exclusive, there are after all 16 usable hours in a day 4-6 hours of education could easily be added to an 8 hour work schedule.

MessageGotNation has pretty much got it, FHP - They can learn and work, besides, you have to acquire new skills before you can use them. It said that they should work during the day, not for the entire day.
