MessageMr. Speaker,

I hope the Progressives will explain why hard-working people on modest incomes who didn't enjoy the privilege of going to university should be expected to subsidise those who do go to university and earn high salaries as a result.

Shouldn't university students contribute at least *something* towards the cost of their education?

Some people simply cannot afford higher education, and it is immoral for money to play such a large role in something as important as deciding an individuals future! We also find it immoral that for those who can afford it will still be largely in debt for many decades as a result of wanting to better themselves and get dream jobs. This is not the moral thing to do!

MessageMr. Speaker,

I remind the PP that under this proposal, graduates will not be saddled with debts they cannot pay. They will only begin to repay the loans after their earnings have gone above average-earnings, and they will only repay the loan at a modest and affordable rate.

This is a fair proposal and it deserves to be supported.

The PP is effectively demanding that dustbin men, postal workers, cleaners and bus drivers should subsidise accountants, lawyers and doctors. How is that fair? How is that "Progress"?
