Description[?]:

The purpose of Cultural Protocol is to assist the player with the ethnicity, language and religion of Malivia.

[Ethnicity]
Race (as a percent of the population): Current, (Previous)
• 51% (80%) Malivian 'Malay' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Malivian
• 31% (N/A) Dundorfian-Malivian or Dunvian (re-added the number of Malivians of mixed ethnicity instead of grouping them with those of solely Malivian descent)
• 9% (10%) Dundorfians 'Germans' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Dundorfians
• 4% (4%) Alorians 'Welsh' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Alorian_Ethnicity
• 2% (2%) Hobrazians 'Georgian' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Hobrazians
• 2% (3%) Luthorians 'English' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Luthorians
• 1% Others

[Language]
The people of Malivia mostly speak these languages.
Malivian 'Malay' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Malivian_language
Dundorfian 'German' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Dundorfian_language
Luthorian 'English' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Terran_Language_Families#Luthorian
Alorian 'Welsh' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Alorian
Hobrazian 'Georgian' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Hobrazian_language

• 21% (31%) Malivian only
• 60% (52%) Dunvian (Mixed Malivian and Dundorfian)
• 12% (11%) Malivian, Dundorfian, Luthorian
• 4% (4%) Dundorfian only
• 3% (2%) Other

[Religion]
Geraja has often been the state religion of Malivia. It is, in itself, very heterogeneous, with lots of different groups worshiping the different deities and focusing on different aspects of the religion.
• 60% (68%) Geraja 'Hinduism' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Geraja
• 25% (17%) Evangelical Luthoran Church of Malivia 'Evangelical Lutheran Christianity' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Luthori_Church
• 3% (3%) Aurorian Patriarchal Church 'Roman Catholicism' http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Aurorian_Patriarchal_Church
• 6% (7%) None
• 8% (5%) Other

[Guidelines]
• The names of political parties should be Malay or German or, as is always allowed, in English.
• The names of characters/'candidates'/politicians should be Malay, German, or a blend of the two.

Malivian does not need to be grammatically correct, or even actual, Malay. It completely suffices if the names, phrases, or whatever is used, sounds Malay. Further exceptions are made for Gerajan terms, which can also have Javanese influences.

[About Malivia]
Malivia is based on the real life (RL) Southeast Asian countries of Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei. Instead of these countries' mainstream religion Islam, it has the religion of Geraja, which is fashioned mostly after RL Hinduism and Hosianism, which is based on RL Christianity. The country has had a colonial past. Remnants of this is evident in the sizable Dundorfian (German) minority and people of mixed Dundorfian and Malivian heritage. Malivia has been independent from Dundorf for centuries, and it's native population has its own language (a not too specific equivalent of Malay, the language of the aforementioned three countries).

Geraja is not a homogeneous religion like most monotheistic ones, but has countless fractions and sects, both large and small, all worshiping different deities or aspects of the Gerajan faith.

Within the last 300 years Hosian religions has grown in popularity in the region, mostly through the influx of Dundorfian immigrants. The rise of the Gottbergen Dynasty in 3582 was a significant contributor to the rise in popularity of the Evangelical Luthoran Church, a Hosian faith. With Geraja's fragmented, polytheistic origins, a new god was not an alien concept for Malivians and many converted out of shear convenience to show their loyalty to the Crown.

[Geography and Climate]
Malivia is in a tropical region on the southern end of the continent Artania. Aside from the mountains and highlands of the country’s interior (Walkunia), most of the country is low-lying coastal jungle. Eighty percent of Malivia’s population lives in these coastal regions. Malivia is bordered to the north by Darnussia and Hobrazia.

[History]
Malivia was first formally organized through colonial efforts of Dundorf. Consequently, the country has a substantial minority of people who are of Dundorfian ancestry. Throughout the years, Malivia has gone through multiple cycles of dynastic families, replaced by anti-monarchist republics, only to see new dynastic families rise. After a complete takeover by Communist elements in 3576, rightist groups in Malivia, including the Dundorfian minority and various religious groups, banded together to drive the Communists from power and restore the monarchy. The Dundorfian Gottbergen family has ruled Malivia from 3582 has used the power of the state to push the introduction of the King’s native Dundorfian (German) language and Hosian (Christian) faith. It was once deposed by Communist factions.

Dissatisfaction with secular governments who oppressed the Geraja majority led to Gerajan Nationalist victories in the late 3700s. Mistreatment of citizens of mixed Dundorfian and Malivian (Dunvians) decent by pure blooded Malivians in the Gerajan Nationalist movement for not being "darah tulen" or "pure bloods." Looking for a leader to rally around, Dunvians turned once more to the Gottbergen family and pleaded for them to reenter national politics. In 3948, the Gottbergen's new party - the Freedom Party of Malivia (FPM) - gained control of government by a razor's edge, winning by less than a single percentage point. With such a close election, hardliners in the FPM feared all their hard work might be undone the next election cycle. The FPM plotted with the Conservative Nationalist Party of Malivia (CNPM) to reinstate the Gottbergen monarchy. Within the month, a coup was executed by CNPM Militia and the Gottbergen family once again assumed control of Malivia.

[Notes]
The racial makeup of Maliva remains fairly stable. Government policies currently encourage Dundorfian immigration (most of these being right-leaning people fleeing from their socialist fatherland) and racial intermarriage between the Malivian and Dundorfian people. Traditional Hosian beliefs on contraceptives has contributed to a higher than average reproductive rate among Dundorfian citizens. As a result, Malivia continues to become slightly more Caucasian in complexion but remains an overwhelmingly ethnic Malivian country.

NOTE: In order to establish the correct number of mixed race Malivians, I had to use the last documented cultural protocol (3770) on the previous cultural protocols bill that included their numbers and adjust for time in a way I thought made sense.

I've done some minor cleanup of the cultural protocols to make more sense, but in a few years, I would like to overhaul the protocols to condense everything and make it easier to read. Let me know your thoughts on the protocol changes I've proposed and if you are ok with reworking their structure next adjustment.

MessageOOC: Looks good, well done. Reading quickly through it I noticed a typo, final paragraph before the notes: the Freedom Party took control of the government by a *single* (not "singer") percentage point. Otherwise good. We support this.

Random fact: "Game mechanics comes first." For example, if a currently-enforced bill sets out one law, then a player cannot claim the government has set out a contradictory law.
