Message | Mr Speaker, We support all reductions in taxes so long as they allow us to continue to fund the important things in our society: defence, justice and security. Could the Finance Minister confirm that the proposed tax reductions here will not impact our ability to fund these key services? Andrew d'Arcy Prime Minister |

Message | Mr. Speaker, we are willing to support this proposal. Eventhough, we are a bit concerned about the shortage of funds this may cause. We do not need the kind of surplus we have at this stage. Anyhow, we share the concern of the Prime Minister. Lort Karav NWL chairman |

Message | M. Speaker, The LPA will not support this mess of a proposal. We prefer to have a simple income tax system with few brackets. We are totally open to lowering taxes from 65% as they are currently, but only within the current bracket set up. There is no need for this many brackets in our income tax system. It is rather pointless and micro management-esque to have each bracket only 255 LOD apart. Brian Webb LPA Finance Spokesperson |

Message | M. Speaker, I also share the concerns of Mr. Karav and the Prime Minister regarding a lack of funds for vital government services. Brian Webb LPA Finance Spokesperson |

Message | Mr. Speaker, To address the concerns raised by all MPs who have so far commented on this bill, I intend to cut spending. The last time that Lodamun had this tax system, we were still able to maintain very high spending in Healthcare & Social Services, Education & Culture, and Defence. Government spending is currently more than 50% of our GDP, which needs to be changed. The income tax system is very simple. Each bracket is 255 LOD apart, and the tax is just 1% higher each time. There is no simplicity or consistency in the current tax system; the brackets and tax rates are arbitrary. It jumps from 5% to 10%, then to 20%, then suddenly escalates to 60%. It's simply ridiculous. -- Sid Landau, Finance Minister |

Message | Mr Speaker, In the absence of full information on what spending cuts this tax change will necessitate we can't support this bill, or any tax proposal. We ask that the Finance Minister simultaneously publish a bill alongside this one outlining his spending proposals. We can't consider only taxes without also examining in detail the consequent spending implications. Andrew d'Arcy Prime Ministef |

Message | Mr Speaker, The CoS does not support this proposal. We agree with the sentiment that taxes and spending must be lowered, however, this is a terrible replacement system. This is far too complex and wastes valuable finance ministry money. We prefer a flat tax system, and will only accept systems with a minimum of 4% between brackets. Jane Black CoS Acting Leader |

Message | Mr. Speaker, the system might seem complex, it still is a very honest and social system. We are tending to suppport this proposal. We would still have to take a look at the spending bill, but we believe this system to be promising. Gaston Lefebvre deputy chairman of NWL |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Almost all ministries will be cut, for sure. We intend to return to one of the older GNRG budgets, if we are still able to afford it. Right now, we have a huge budget surplus, which has contributed to an amassing of reserves over time. Running a temporary budget deficit while we decide what to cut will not do any harm. We can't set a budget right now without knowing how much revenue we will have after taxes are cut. That is simply a ridiculous demand. We ask for MPs to trust us. We attempted to start a discussion on the economy that only 1 MP has commented on: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=456853 | The economy is terrible at the moment, and we are trying to restore Lodamun to its former glory. The problems, that we have identified in that discussion, will be solved by the courses of action that I am trying to take. If you do not support my courses of action, surely it can only mean 2 things: 1) You have a better course of action. 2) You want Lodamun's economy to be as terrible as it is now. When my great-grandfather - and other GNRG members - had control of the Finance Ministry, Lodamun's GDP was in the top 5 in the world, and our government spending in key areas (Healthcare & Social Services, Education & Culture, Defence) were well above the global average. -- Sid Landau, Finance Minister |

Message | Mr. Speaker, we will take the chance and support this proposal. For Lodamun's sake... Lort Karav NWL chairman |

Message | If this will truly be the start of lodamuns return to economic glory, we will support it. All hail Lodamun!! Stephen Lodamun President of Lodamun |

Message | To the Parliament, As a former Minister of Finance, I don't believe that this income tax proposal is good for Lodamun. It seems to be a very complicated solution to a simple problem. Lowering the tax rate of the highest bracket in the current set up would be perfectly sufficient in my opinion. John Cook President of Lodamun |
Date | 01:52:14, December 30, 2015 CET | From | Great National Republican Guard | To | Debating the Income Tax Reform - 3958 |
Message | Mr. Speaker, I really don't care for John Cook's opinions. He is the former Finance Minister, and he did absolutely nothing to try to help Lodamun's economy. He has not displayed any knowledge of economics. He speaks of "the highest bracket" which is 1,000 LOD. That is less than 12% of what a lot of people in Lodamun earn. Why is 1000 LOD the highest bracket? Which idiot invented the tax system with 1000 LOD as the highest bracket? It was Ron Evans, a member of the LPA: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=453968 The tax system, that I have proposed, was used before and proven to work. The tax system, that partisans in the LPA are defending, has been proven to fail Lodamun. And again... We ask MPs to participate in this discussion: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=456853 | We thought the former Finance Minister would be interested in a general discussion on the economy, but clearly he isn't. -- Sid Landau, Finance Minister |
Date | 15:43:20, December 31, 2015 CET | From | Great National Republican Guard | To | Debating the Income Tax Reform - 3958 |
Message | Mr. Speaker, We can't set a budget right now without knowing how much revenue we will have after taxes are cut. That is simply a ridiculous demand. We are trying to fix Lodamun's economy, and it is evident that many MPs do not want that to happen. You may ask where the evidence is, Mr. Speaker... notice that many MPs were quick to dismiss the Income Tax Reform bill. None of the MPs who are against the Income Tax Reform bill have made any comments on this other bill on the economy: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=456853 It is almost as if MPs are in denial of the fact that the economy is terrible right now. -- Sid Landau, Finance Minister |

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections. |
