Bill: Nuclear Weapons Act of November 3957

Details

Submitted by[?]: Labour Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 3958

Description[?]:

We believe that our current policy on nuclear weapons is dangerously outdated. A majority of nations at least allow the use of nuclear weapons in some form, and an alarmingly high number of them allow them to be used at will without provocation. This bill would allow us to at develop and use nuclear weapons if provoked.

MessageWe cannot risk not facilitating nuclear weapons as part of our defense program. They are unfortunately a necessary party of any military: but we should consider keeping them for as long as a meaningful agreement has been reached within the international community.

MessageWe agree with the Green Party, to add further, nuclear weapons are weapons of mass destruction and therefore cannot be used to precisely destroy an enemy without harming innocents in the process.

MessageWe cannot hope at this present time to aim for lasting peace if we do not adopt the doctrine of mutually assured destruction. If we implement this policy it is highly unlikely we would ever need a use for them: but without them we are a much easier target for more aggressive and opportunistic nations.
