Bill: Housing Act of November 3961
Details
Submitted by[?]: Labour Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 3962
Description[?]:
We believe it is unacceptable that low-income families are not provided public housing by the government. It is an enormous burden on low-income families to expect them to buy a house, pay taxes and provide for their families. We should make it easier for them to become self-sufficient rather than punish them for having a harder start to their lives. As such, this bill proposes that all low-income families are provided with public housing. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government policy regarding housing.
Old value:: Housing policy is to be determined by local governments.
Current: The state contracts with private companies to provide public housing.

Message | We would prefer the policy changed to "All housing is private but rent is subsidised for low-income households.", as this would allow for the private sector to have a role and would avoid some of the problems that come from public housing. |

Message | We may consider that compromise, but we won't change or reject this bill. |

Message | My party cannot vote for this proposed bill as it is just against what we stand for. Low income families should not be relying on the government to provide their housing. |

Message | Low-income families will only suffer if we don't help them become self-sufficient. No one stands to gain anything if we don't help the poorest of the poor, and not providing low-income families with accommodation is very harmful for Beluzia. We have a budget surplus, we can afford it but most important we want people to be able to succeed. If we cannot give people the tools and create the right conditions for success, we will not be able to prosper as a nation. Providing accommodation to low-income families would be the first of many steps towards becoming a nation of self-sufficient, hardworking citizens, rather than those who are barely able to provide for their families. Unemployment is as high as 10% in some states, and this is purely because previous governments have failed to help those most in need - so perhaps it is time to rethink and rather than letting people suffer to save money or because you think things might go well eventually without our intervention, take action with us. |

Random fact: In cases where players have failed to clearly and accurately reference their nation's RP laws in the "Bills under debate" section, Moderation will rule them invalid if a challenge is made to their validity. |
