Bill: To Alter the Government's Smoking Policy
Details
Submitted by[?]: Party for Practical Progress
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 3963
Description[?]:
Smoking tobacco specifically can actually be more harmful indoors, as the tar can embed itself in the walls, clothing, etc, and is especially harmful if there are children or babies living in the household. There are already heavy restrictions on the sale and consumption of tobacco, and there is no reason we can think of that smoking should be illegal outdoors. Pubs and bars should have the option to allow smoking in their premises. |

Message | This proposal makes some sense in that people should be allowed to smoke outdoors. Indeed, for a child, their mother would be better smoking outside on the street than in the family home. However, this proposal goes too far in allowing smoking in pubs and clubs. It simply disregards non-smokers who like to go out to party or work as barmen and barwomen. OOC: I think a better proposal would have been "Smoking is legal outdoors and in private homes and clubs, but illegal indoors in all places of employment." |

Message | OOC: A Green Party that supports less restrictions on smoking? You do realise the effects smoking has on not only health but also on the environment too? |
Date | 14:16:44, January 04, 2016 CET | From | Bailonese Council Communist Party (BCCP) | To | Debating the To Alter the Government's Smoking Policy |
Message | OOC: Maybe the Green Party has been infiltrated by shills from Big Tobacco? That would be a bizarre spin. "Don't worry about lung cancer, it's perfectly natural - just like our products." |
