Bill: Free Contraceptives Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Grand Republican Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2174
Description[?]:
The Grand Republican party is not a party of prudes, and welcomes freedom of sexuality and sexual choice. However, the GRP wishes to ensure the sexual safety of the Rutanian population, especially the more sexually active teenage portion of the population. Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are not a good thing, and neither is teenage preganancy, unless of course it is planned for. Teenagers will have sex whether there are condoms or not, despite some parties beliefs; free condoms will ensure that their sxexual activities do not result in a future drain on the Rutanian taxpayer. As such the GRP calls for the provision of free condoms and contraceptives in toilets and chemists throughout the nation. We do not believe that this will encourage sexua promiscuity, as we cannot stop teenagers and others having sex; they will, however, ensure that STD and pregnancy rates are maintained and perhaps even lowered. The tax rate will not be unduly affected, and the money that is spent will be miniscule compared to that spent on abortions, adoption agencies, welfare and such other costs placed upon the taxpayer by unwanted pregnancies. It will, in the long run, benefit the taxpayer by relieveing them of long-term taxation problems. |

Message | OOC: No Proposal attached IC: We are against, free contraceptives is enforcing a progressive morality and saying to the public that they are promiscuous and that they can have unconsequential sex. Free contraceptives will lead to shortages, people will take more than they need and the idea that the government pays for a luxury item is ludricous, we will not support this bill. |

Message | The first point is utter bullshit, the second point is bullshit as well. Don't you have any faith in our people? Besides, you're very hypocrite to oppose it for that reason, as when we offered to compromise by a "reasonable discount'" (and thus addressing all of your concerns), you refused our offer. |

Message | If something is free, people will take more of it than they need, that is fact. Dispute that and members of the RSDP should have their heads examined. Hmmm... i wonder why the free market Freedom Party would refuse to compromise down to "reasonable discount".... perhaps its because that is a subsidy and we are against subsidies, oh yes thats right. Oh and we remember the RSDP's comments on that issue, that subsidies had nothing to with the free market. We know what is bullshit, and that comment was complete bullshit and showed the complete lack of intelligence amongst the RSDP MPs. |
