Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2174
Description[?]:
INTRODUCTION Education is an important element in any society because it gives its students the tools to compete and survive in a dog-eat-dog world. It equips students with knowledge they can't find just by being on the street. PROPOSAL As the students have a right to attend an academic instutition and are mandated by law to do it, it is impertive to give some decision regarding their education to them and their parent(s) and/or guardian(s). A public system is quite adequate for universally addressing the needs in a single sweep. By allowing a private system to operate along side with the public schools, we give our people more education options. There are people who can afford something more, and if they desire it, they ought to be permitted to seek such options. A two-tiered system favours both sides, and by permitting private schools we can relieve some of the burden from the public school system, thus allowing them to give more attention to those who choose to remain there. It also enables the parent(s) and/or guardian(s) to send their child to a school where they feel the child will flourish. |

Date | 04:14:40, January 21, 2006 CET | From | Proletariat Revolution Party | To | Debating the Education Reform Act of March 2173 |
Message | What's wrong with giving people the right to choose more than public schooling and home schooling? It is one more viable option and a slightly more libertarian approach to education, giving our citizens more choice in the matter, since it is their future. |
Date | 05:31:21, January 21, 2006 CET | From | Commonwealth Workers Army | To | Debating the Education Reform Act of March 2173 |
Message | The AAS opposes purely because of the risks inherent in private forms of education. Public schools can teach a variety of subjects, with a variety of angles... all of which will conform to centralised codes of how things should be taught. Private education too often prevaricates on important issues, and insists on things like the 'two-naked-dimwits' approach to Creation... |
