Bill: Income tax proposal of August 3973
Details
Submitted by[?]: Free Democratic Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 3974
Description[?]:
We will see who truly cares for the poor with this vote. Here we see an income tax cut, but we are cutting taxes on the poor. This is to make up for the fact that we are instituting a 5% national sales tax, and if we have too much of a surplus after this, we will cut more taxes on the poor. This ELIMINATES taxes on anyone making under 20,000 SOL per year. That is such a financial relief for those families, and we are proud to stand with every Solentian person. President Victor Davis |

Message | RISE will be opposing this bill. This does not help the poor. They will be taxed on essential goods such as food and clothing. We need a fair tax system to fight pay inequality, what do other parties not understand about that? Craig Davidson |

Message | RISE also can't count. Now the poor have a 5% spending tax. They used to have a 10% or more income tax. Last time I checked, 5% is less than 10%, and that's assuming they spend their whole income. If you're mathematically challenged, just be honest about it, but it's disgusting to tell the Solentian people falsehoods. President Victor Davis |

Message | You ignored my point of pay inequality, I'm going to ignore your rudeness and concentrate on the parts that didn't involve criticising my maths. If we raise tax on essential goods we'll need to pay out more in benefits so people can afford basics. Surely making a fair tax system that tackles pay inequality and stops us having to pay more in benefits is better for this country. Craig Davidson |

Message | My criticisms were not rude, and you didn't understand what I said. Expecting your party to be able to do simple math is not inappropriate. This bill eliminates taxes on those making below 20,000 SOL. The previous system has someone making 20,000 SOL paying 2,500 in taxes if you do the math. Would you rather a poor person making 20,000 SOL per year paying a 12.5% income tax or a 0% income tax? If they pay a 0% income tax and have a 5% sales tax, they will still have more money than the old system. You do not stand for the lower class. We are giving benefits. We are giving the 20,000 SOL income individual 2,500 SOL extra. That more than enough pays for the sales tax. President Victor Davis |

Message | SFP is flat out wrong. The sale tax is a regressive tax that directly hurts the poor than it does with the rich. Campaign promises out the window on Day 1. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We are the party getting harassed for this pro-lower class policy we have. Our detractors have yet to give an objective reason why this is a bad policy. They supply no numbers or figures to support their side. They just give an emotional response. We disagree with emotional politics. We use objective statistics when crafting our economic policies. You effortlessly want to toss money at a problem and hope it lands in the right place. We're actually cutting taxes on the poor by probably more than 50%. If you can't do math, just say so, and we'll be glad to help you learn! We want to educate all the politicians in Solentia regardless of how mentally challenged they are. We're the good guys. We're not saying this, by the way, because we oppose all criticism. We are fine with getting voted against. We just want people to give us objective and logical refutes rather than bogus statements rooted in emotion and hate. President Victor Davis |

Message | Actually SFP I brought up several points you may have addressed. The first being pay inequality which should and must be tackled by a fair tax system. If someone earns 20,000 SOL and someone earns 100,000 SOL they should (but don't) pay more into the country, it's only fair. You also seemed to misunderstand my point of benefits. If we raise the tax on basic goods we will have to raise the benefits so they can afford basic things. Thank you Craig Davidson |
