Before Liberaldemokraterna votes on this Act we would very much like to know what the argument for a privatized defence industry is?"

Message"Mr. Speaker,

Defense industries, as they are known, when they are state owned, are not accountable for their actions. The fallacy lies in this: we believe because we have a state owned industry, we believe it is independent. It is not. State lobbyists are just as active as corporate lobbyists.

If a state owned industry creates faulty weaponry, we have to centrally plan to change it -- we have to increase funding. If we had a private industry, we could simply change companies."

Message"Mr.Speaker

Is it really safe to put the whole weapon industry in the hand of private corporation that holds no accountability towards the general public? The state, even though it's inefficient at times, is a democraticaly elected body whos every action can be influenced by the public.

I hold no blind trust towards either the state or the private sector. But some things are just too important to be left to the market alone"

Message"Mr Speaker,

Private corporations are accountable to the people. If nobody buys from them, they go bankrupt. Government-supported industries exist because of force -- we send out men with guns to collect taxes, and then we send those taxes to state industries. Capitalism is democracy with money."

Message"Mr.Speaker

Under the current law these private corporation could potentially sell weapon to anyone, and we wouldn't know about it. Since the law says that weapons may be exported freely I say it is too dangerous to leave it up to private intresst. But if that law was to be changed and we could control the export of weapon we would be in favor of giving the market a chance.

This is not an ideological issue for us, it's all about common sense."
