| OOC: Info The following is an act passed on March 3984 (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=462126) which constitutes Zardugal's legislative status on languages. It went into affect on March 3985 and can be repealed by a simple majority of Zardugal's legislature. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Preamble As a multi-lingual and multi-ethnic state, Zardugal hereby adopts this charter recognizing the common language as Augustan and respect for minority language communities. Reference R.1 The components of this act shall be refered to as the Zardic Language Charter. Article 1. Official Language of the Federal Government 1.1 The official language of the federal government of Zardugal shall be Augustan. 1.1.1 All laws and government services must be provided in Augustan throughout Zardugal. 1.1.2 The working language of the federal government shall be Augustan. 1.1.3 Knowledge of Augustan shall be mandatory for government employees. 1.2 Augustan and Mallan shall be recognized as national languages of Zardugal. 1.2.1 The federal government shall be obligated to provide service in Mallan where population warrants in Kalvario and Sakvejo. 1.3 Irkawan shall be recognized as a minority language. 1.3.1 The federal government shall be obligated to provide service in Irkawan where population warrants in Kalvario. Article 2. Official Language of Endiraho 2.1 The official language of Endiraho shall be Augustan. 2.2 All laws and government services must be provided in Augustan. 2.3 The working language of the government of Endiraho shall be Augustan. 2.4 Knowledge of Augustan shall be mandatory for government employees. Article 3. Official Language of Unkaso 3.1 The official language of Unkaso shall be Augustan. 3.2 All laws and government services must be provided in Augustan. 3.3 The working language of the government of Unkaso shall be Augustan. 3.4 Knowledge of Augustan shall be mandatory for government employees. Article 4. Official Language of Ingomo 4.1 The official language of Ingomo shall be Augustan. 4.2 All laws and government services must be provided in Augustan. 4.3 The working language of the government of Ingomo shall be Augustan. 4.4 Knowledge of Augustan shall be mandatory for government employees. Article 5. Official Languages of Kalvario 5.1 The official languages of Kalvario shall be Augustan, Mallan and Irkawan. 5.2 All laws and government services must be provided in Augustan and Mallan. 5.2.1 Services may be requested in Irkawan where population warrants. 5.3 The working language of the government of Kalvario shall be Augustan and Mallan. 5.4 Knowledge of Augustan, Mallan or Irkawan shall be mandatory for government employees. Article 6. Official Languages of Sakvejo 6.1 The official languages of Sakvejo shall be Augustan and Mallan. 6.2 All laws and government services must be provided in Augustan and Mallan. 6.3 The working language of the government of Sakvejo shall be Augustan and Mallan. 6.4 Knowledge of Augustan or Mallan shall be mandatory for government employees. Article 7. Education Rights 7.1 The language of instruction of public schools in Endiraho, Unkaso and Ingomo shall be Augustan. 7.2 Children of parents/guardians who speak Mallan as their primary language or who received their primary or secondary education in Mallan shall be eligible for public education in Mallan where populations warrant in Kalvario and Sakvejo. 7.3 Children of parents/guardians who speak Irkawan as their primary language or who received their primary or secondary education in Irkawan shall be eligible for public education in Irkawan where populations warrant in Kalvario. 7.4 Children of parents not covered by 7.2 or 7.3 shall only be eligible for public education instruction in Augustan. 7.5 Public schools of which the language of instruction is not normally Augustan shall provide significant immersion in the Augustan language as to produce fluent speakers of the official language. Article 8. Workplace Rights 8.1 All companies and organizations with greater than 25 employees shall have Augustan as the language of the workplace. 8.2 All companies and organizations must be capable of serving customers in Augustan. 8.2.1 Commercial signs and advertisements must feature Augustan. |
