Bill: Retirement Age
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberal Alliance
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 3989
Description[?]:
Mr Speaker Our beloved Imperial Chancellor Roscoe W Chandler is 69 years old. We must allow people to work later in life. Todays level is way too low. Even if 69 years is too old, 67 is more relevant but with the option to retire at 65 if you've been a blue-collar worker. I yield. Denice Rittenhouse Parliamentary Group Leader |

Message | Mr. Speaker, People are free to retire whenever they like, but benefits and pension should be available by 65 if a worker wants to retire. We believe as a society continues to become more advanced the retirement age should be getting younger not older. |

Message | Mr Speaker, That makes no sense. We would have people living around 30 years without working. Surely the age at which you stop working should be proportionate to your lifespan? We don't retire at 35 because our ancestors died at 40. Larissa Newton |

Message | Mr Speaker, We must stop raising the retirement age. People may be living longer but that doesn't mean they should be working for longer. If you live until 100 you shouldn't be working until 80. There should be an age a person must work and pay taxes into the country before receiving a pension. Jean Williams CUP MP |

Message | Mr Speaker Dear NCUP. As we said before: our proposition is that 67 should be the age for white collar retirement, however blue-collar workers could retire as 65 year olds, as before. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Actually it makes perfect sense. As technology continues to improve, there are less and less jobs for actual humans. In the future, robots will allow humans to live a life of luxury. Retirement age will get most certainly younger as time goes on. Our current way of life didn't factor in how fast technology would eventually outgrow even us people. |

Random fact: Did you know you can change the official name of your nation? All you need to do is draw up a new name that is in accordance with the Nation Renaming Guide, pass a bill proposing the name change with a two-thirds majority and then post a request to Moderation on the "Renaming Requests" thread. You can change city and region names in this way too. |
