Bill: Constutitional Repair Act 3996

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal Socialist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 3996

Description[?]:

Due to the bureaucracy and crisis that has stemmed from only allowing the President to form a cabinet, we propose doing the decent thing and amending this, letting all parties propose a cabinet. It is the decent thing to do, even whilst our party had the Presidency we were against this measure. Restore democracy and restore common sense!

MessageMr Speaker,

The consolidation of power to propose cabinets to the executive branch was a step forward in our democracy. To allow parties (and we are including ourselves here) to propose a cabinet when they have no hope of forming a government is ludicrous. The nation needs a strong executive branch, and whilst it should remain that the Senate approves such a cabinet, it is the duty of the President to propose an equitable agreement for all parties.

I would add that the Government of President Yifan is looking increasingly unstable, and the fact that he cannot reach a consensus on a shared power agreement is troubling to say the least. We will not be part of a scatter-shot cabinet, and cannot agree to work with the All Progressives, a party who will take this country backwards.

We agree with our colleagues in the Conservative Union on the troubling position of the Radical Party. Either they lead a minority government, or they propose a sensible coalition which does not include the All Progressives.

Firstly, having only the President be able to decide a coalition is guiding us into the direction of a dictatorship. And secondly the instability of Yifan's government is exactly why we should revoke this law!!!

MessageMr Speaker,

The current situation in this Senate behooves us to consider this sensible amendment. Why should we be paralyzed by the ineffective Government of President Yifan? Allow other parties to form a Government and rid the country of its waste and inefficiency!

MessageMr Speaker,

We support this proposal, for many reasons, my party is not in a position to form any stable government and we will not seek a minority administration, secondly having only the president propose a cabinet puts too much power into one individual. A presidential election is not like our parliamentary ones, there is no run-off or second ballot when we elect Senators, it has been known for the party that came fifth in the legislative body to win the presidency, now how can you seriously expect the fifth party to form any sort of stable government without it being seen is illegitimate. My party won the election and we a seriously struggling to get to 376 seats.

Wu Yifan,
President of Gaduridos,
Leader of the Radical Party
