Bill: Striking Reform 3996
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberal Socialist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 3997
Description[?]:
Currently government approval is needed before firing strikers. However we think this is unnecessary and even though it is essential to protect workers, we believe that this current law poses a strain on employers, particularly those from smaller businesses. If workers are deemed to have gong on strike without reasonable grounds, then employers should be free to fire them. In order to make this fair, employees are free to go to local councils about this if they deem they have been unfairly fired. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Employer's rights in regards to firing striking workers.
Old value:: Government approval is needed before strikers can be fired.
Current: Employers cannot fire workers who have gone on strike.
Proposed: Employers can fire workers who are deemed to have gone on strike without reasonable reasons.

Message | Mr Speaker, Yet another attack on worker's rights by a so called Socialist party! We have debated this very issue in this chamber before, and it was decided by all parties that a legal definition of 'reasonable' was not attainable. This law serves our workers and businesses perfectly well as it is. |

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current. |
