Message | Mr. Speaker, With the recently-passed bill on economic reforms, the character of the private sector - at least in the industrial sectors of the economy - has changed. Most private companies are worker-owned and worker-run. We prefer to not have the government own and operate everything, if we can give control to the workers instead. With that said, we will give our comments on the individual policies: - We believe that the current policy on Train Operating Companies should remain, where the government operates a national TOC, while smaller TOCs can be run by the private sector. - We believe that we should maintain the current policy concerning the post office, where there is a nationalised post office agency, and private post offices are allowed to exist with government regulation. Allowing private post offices is especially important to curb fears that the government may be snooping in citizens' private mail. - We believe that both the government and private sector should be involved in the ownership and operation of airports, but that these need to be clearly defined. While we are not opposed to the government completely owning and operating all airports, we would prefer if the private sector had limited involvement; we just need to define their involvement. - We agree with the proposed government policy on energy generation, where most energy is generated by a government-owned company, while small-scale private electrical generation is allowed. -- Joshua Fertig, Chairman of the GNRG, Minister of Trade & Industry, Vice President of 2GDR Lodamun |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Having recently passed a wide set of new legislation on these economic matters, further noting that the DSPL voted in favour of those, we will refrain from supporting this bill. Moreover, in terms of economic policy, our movement believes in personal entrepreneurship and private initiative as the most viable stimuli for economic growth. Hence, our vote. Kristian H. Zackheim, Chairman of Together! |
