Bill: Regulating the Energy Industry
Details

Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 4013
Description[?]:
The Neo-Democratic Party believes that energy should be considered an essential resource, necessary for human welfare. As such, we would like to see the energy industry be more regulated than it is now, to ensure people are given a fair, efficient, and cost effective energy source. These regulations do not go as far as to set prices the companies cannot charge over, therefore allowing the free market to still operate. Due to an increase in regulations, the Neo-Democratic Party also considers the subsidies for low-income earners will no longer be necessary, as the increased regulations will help ensure prices stay competitive. The current situation, allowing unregulated private companies to set whatever prices they want and the federal government giving subsidies to the low-income classes, allows for the unregulated companies to overcharge those with very little wealth, and sticks the government with the bill. This act would help eliminate that racket the energy companies are running. |
