From | Green Party of Rutania | To | Debating the Election debates | Message | OOC: I don't mean to be rude but in my opinion defence is rather a non-issue in Rutania. It seems to be one of the few areas which the majority of parties agree on (e.g. the consensus appears to be in favour of a minimal armed forces and against WMDs, generally). Its also an area that is rarely legislated on. We seem to argue most in terms of the economy and the extent to which the public and private sector should play. May I suggest we debate the economy (and public services) instead? |

From | Great Rutania party | To | Debating the Election debates | Message | The GRP will strive to keep our economy a powerhouse and create more jobs than ever before by extending the retirement age and encouraging more children to become successful. We will continue to oppose the lefts radical nationalisation plans and bills that discriminate against the wealthy. |

From | Libertarian Party | To | Debating the Election debates | Message | The LP will keep our economy growing and flourishing by deregulating it. We'll also make sure companies and employers get the space for innovation and growth. We'll oppose every nationalisation plan and will try to stop the left. |

From | Great Rutania party | To | Debating the Election debates | Message | A GRP government will see the reduction in red tape and regulations. The WU, DSPR and the Greens all want to crush the economy by evil nationalisation, only a GRP government will prevent mass nationalisation |

From | Green Party of Rutania | To | Debating the Election debates | Message | The Greens support neither an economy owned by the wealthy 1% who exploit workers rights or an economy run by bureaucrats in the capital. We support an economy owned by the Rutanian people and operated by her workers through democratic means. We support shorter working hours in a bid to boost productivity and wealth, higher wages to increase living standards and more funding for green industries. The Greens will oppose any bid to transfer the focus of the economy from workers to those seeking to exploit people for profit. |

From | Great Rutania party | To | Debating the Election debates | Message | I think the word exploit is way to harsh, Rutanias human rights record is very high, the highest was when Mark Chelly was president (a GRP politician). How can the greens possibly say they will allow workers to control the economy, we support shorter working hours but sometimes rich, well educated chaps living in the capital who do not belong to any Union or political party are the right people for the job. |

From | Green Party of Rutania | To | Debating the Election debates | Message | The Libertarians, for example consistently propose to completely deregulate working hours. This means that employers could legally demand their staff to work 50, 60, 70 hours a week. That would be an attack on human rights, on family and social life and would devastate public health. In regards to how we would enable workers to control the economy that is very simple. We would nationalise most if not all industries and place all of them under the control of democratic workers councils. That way the workers - the people who truly understand their businesses and industries - can run them in the interests of themselves and their communities as a whole. |

From | Great Rutania party | To | Debating the Election debates | Message | Yes that is true, but one way to tackle this is to regulate, not nationalise entirely. Regulation is good and that way human rights can't be breached. |
