MessageMr Speaker,

We are shocked and dismayed to hear the words of the Libertarians coming from the mouths of our coalition partners, and we are sure that their voters will be, too. Let us address each point.

First, the proposal on stock exchanges is a purely practical matter, since if industry is operated democratically, there is no need for trading of shares. Investment comes from retained profit and that which is allocated democratically.

Second, the proposals to restore public ownership do not in any way prohibit competition, as there is no proposal for centralised control. These, as all other companies, would be controlled by the DWCs. In cases where competition is difficult or impossible, such as rail and energy, this argument does not apply in any case, and bringing these industries under public ownership would simply allow more transparency. These industries would be regulated to ensure efficient practices, and prohibit abuse of market power.

We hope that R!R will adhere to the platform on which they stood for the elections, and not side with the right against their coalition partners. Any particular points of disagreement can be addressed in a subsequent bill.

President of the Commonwealth of Rutania
Chairman of the National Executive Committee of the Democratic Socialist Party of Rutania
