Current: All adults upon completion of schooling must serve either a term in the military or a lesser paid term of civilian national service, at their option.
Proposed: All adults upon completion of schooling can be required in times of war to serve a term in the military.

| Message | Mr. Speaker, We ask the parties who are much concerned with preserving the National Service: What is the value of our military? Are they non-existent? Furthermore, the Conservative Right's rhetoric regarding the value of the service, stating that this is where boys become men, is both sexist AND illogical. Not having a national service does not mean that the youth will have bad manners and become sloths, which he is trying to point out. This is a slippery slope that THIS ASSEMBLY should not tolerate.
