Old value:: There shall be no direct cash payments to individuals to guarantee a minimum income.
Current: All adults not supported by another person shall be guaranteed a very basic subsistence income by the government. However, the provision of this is not to exceed a certian period of time.

Old value:: There shall be a minimum wage at a level considered a "living wage," well above the poverty line for a full time worker.
Current: There shall be a minimum wage at a level that a single full time worker on it can adequately subsist.
Proposed: There is no provision for a minimum wage.

The LPP supports a "living wage" in the absence of a basic income, but we believe that the basic income is a better safety net. |

Message | Mr Speaker, The free market will make sure that wages stay high in a country as well off as ours. If companies have too low wages then no one will want to work for them.
